Applications are open for the "Digital Transformation of Small and Medium Enterprises" initiative, which is part of the “Competitiveness” Program of the NSRF 2021-2027. This initiative is broken down to three pillars boasting a total budget of 300 million euros with the aim to enhance the operational effectiveness of Small to Medium Sized Enterprises through subsidized investments in cloud computing, robotics, artificial intelligence, cyber security and other related fields of technology.

According to the published RFTs companies at pretty much any level of digital maturity may be eligible. The first pillar of the initiative is geared towards businesses with minimal or no technology footprint that wish to invest in essential technology solutions (core IT infrastructure and office applications). The second pillar is targeting companies that have some infrastructure already and are looking to expand that infrastructure according to their operational needs or strategic vision. The third stream is attempting to address more specialized needs in technology subsidizing projects mostly in industrial automation and other production specific solutions. The offered subsidy will cover up to 50% of the proposed investment plans which could range from 18.000 € up to 1.200.000 €. It should be noted that according to the new NSRF, applications will be evaluated on a first come - first serve basis so the time of submission may be a significant factor in securing the funds.
