New NSRF initiatives for SMEs have been announced

Post date: 02-01-2024

The Greek Ministry of Finance has published two new initiatives of the NSRF 2021-2027, which aim to support new or recently established small and medium enterprises (SMEs). There were some modifications in relation to what had been announced in the pre-publication, which was presented in a previous article on our page, mostly related to basic specifications of the initiatives.

The initiative "Support towards the launch and operation of new small and medium-sized enterprises" subsidizes, among other things, investments in facilities, machinery and technological equipment, for new enterprises in a very wide range of activities. This is evident from the extensive table of activity codes attached to the announcement, which mainly excludes only activities that fall within the catering, tourism, and retail trade sectors. Moreover, the minimum investment amount was reduced to €30,000, with the maximum investment amount remaining at €400,000.

On the contrary, the initiative "Support towards the launch and operation of new small and medium-sized tourism enterprises", which focuses on the tourism sector, did not have major changes in terms of the budget range it subsidizes, which ranges from €800,000 to €40,000. Here, in addition to the subsidized activity codes, the announcement also specifies some minimum specifications that the investment project must meet if it concerns a hotel or other tourist accommodation.

We remind you that for both actions the percentage of the investment that will be subsidized by the program will start from 45%, while under conditions it can even reach up to 60% of the budget.

The application deadline for both initiatives has been set for the 29th of February 2024.

It should be noted that this NSRF program sets strict terms and conditions for the prospective entrepreneur, in order to avoid bad practices that marred similar actions in the past. For example, they do not allow changes in the shareholding composition or in the main activity code of the company being established for at least two years after its establishment.

The increased complexity brought about by these conditions, both at the planning level, as well as in the context of the submission of the application, makes it particularly appropriate to enlist the support that an experienced consultant can offer at each stage of the formulation and submission of the investment plan.

If the offering of these initiatives aligns with your vision for a new business principle, we will be more than happy to help you put it to paper and to work towards achieving the funding required to bring it to fruition.
